Lloyd E. Sponenburgh - 24 Jun 2008 20:46 GMT The question almost says it. What is the last version issued, and where might one now find the updates to get to that version?
Thanks,
LLoyd

There have been things that have caught me out that have been fixed in later service packs :) I can't remember details though.

I dunno, though. I'm working on some old legacy repairs. I can't make the object file come out the same length as the old ones, even tho' the re-compiled object seems to work fine. Turned on and off every switch I could find for run-time checking, updated my VBrun libraries... Oh, well
Sigh.... the "latest" when it was compiled may not be the latest now.

Oh, well I don't think you'd ever get object files the same length/content, even when compiling twice in a row.

Because there are more new objects to use, and a lot of the old ones have been severely upgraded to function better... unless of course, you LIKE living in the stone age...then by all means... don't upgrade. :)

What functions have been upgraded? For one, "Windows Common Controls 6.0 (SP6)", which includes new, and updated controls: Tapstrip, Toolbar, Statusbar, Progress bar, Treeview, Listview, Imagelist, Slider, and ImageCombo controls.

They all come with VB6 regardless of service pack level. What is new in SP6? I think your getting confused between VB6 (as the version after VB5) and SP6 which is just bug fixes (or bug introductions depending on how you want to look at it)

Before you condemn something new, at least read the release notes. And if all else fails, just get the service pack and install it... if you don't like the changes, uninstall it. Otherwise, have fun in the 19th century. :)

However, you seem to *know* what 'new' and 'upgraded' features there are, so I was kinda hoping you'd share this knowledge with me and any other passing reader of this thread.
So far you haven't listed anything that you wouldn't get with an un-service packed version of VB6. -- Jan Hyde
