Hello,
I have seen something strange on a customer's computer.
It is a P4 3 GHz with 512 MB Ram running on a Win2K SP3
When he uses a part of my application, it is really slow (more than 10
sec for something that I do in 1 sec. (in VB6) with an older computer),
he also have a second computer where it is really fast (one second too).
When I look at in the task manager, it seem that Idle process is always
in between 80 and 99%
I have tried to reinstall completely MDac 2.8 and MSDE (2K SP3a), I also
connect on a network server, but it doesn't change, the computer is
still slow.
When I copy the database on another computer, the other computer isn't slow.
Does someone have any idea about the speed problem? I really have no
idea to test? Could an upgrade to Win2K SP4 solve the error?
Thank you

Hi,
Could it be a memory problem? Check the differences between the computers on
physical and virtual memory, and what other processes are running that
consume a lot of memory. I have also experienced strange problems with MDAC,
but then it usually did not work at all.
Good luck,

Hello,
I have seen the solution : The customer was reading a DXF file with more
than 8000 lines (to drawn not lines in the dxf file) and on the other
computer none of these 8000 lines. Even in Autocad, the DXF was slow to
read (and draw). Now that he has removed the 8000 lines it is very fast
(one second to load everything).
I was thinking about a MDac or MSDE error, not a dxf error.
Now, all is perfect
Thank you for your help and I am sorry for the false problem.
