Installing client on same machine as remote components?

Hi,

Is it possible to access remote components from the same
machine using the same methodology as you would use when
connecting from a different machine?  Let me explain
further ....

Let's say I develop an application which uses remote
components.  I deploy it by installing the components in
MTS on Server A, then exporting the package to User B, and
running the package on User B.  Installing the front-end
of the application on User B will now result in the
application being able to find and use the remote
components on Server A.

But if I also want to install the front-end on Server A,
what are my options?  Should I export a package from
Server A to Server A and run the package?

Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jay

No need to export anything just use it, since they are local to the Client
application on theat computer.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

When installing the client application on Server A, it
still asks for the location of the remote components.  If
I enter the network path of the location (the path of the
computer I am installing on, eg -
\\serverA\remotecomponents), when I run the application I
get an error 462 - the remote machine does not exist or is
unavailable.  If I use dcomcnfg and change the location to
run on the computer where the data is stored, and remove
the check from 'run application on the following
computer', I get a 'could not create activeX' error.

How can I install the client on the same computer as the
remote components and link the two?

Thanks again,

Jay

Eek.  I'm getting error 462 on User A now too.
