I had a few thousand messages in this newsgroup up until a few days ago. I
now only have 43. What happened????? Did I just lose all that helpful
information??

I see you're using Outlook Express.

Select View | Current View from the menu bar. Which option of the 4 at the
top of the list are selected? If it's "Hide Read Messages", you might want
to change it.

Select Tools | Options from the menu bar, and look on the Maintenance tab.
You should see a check box labelled "Delete news messages xx days after
being downloaded" (where xx is a combobox that lets you select the number of
days). If it's checked, that could explain where your messages went.

Realistically, though, I think you're better off going to
http://groups.google.com  or, even better,
http://groups.google.com/advanced_search to find specific answers, rather
than having them all saved on your hard drive.

Thanks... I did have the "Delete new messages..." checked. I have been
downloading them so that I could use the newsgroups as a resource offline.
I have a terrible dial-up connection.

Many thanks for the reply,

Branden
